Privacy Policy
Engine Simulator
Effective date: May 24, 2026
Last updated: May 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Engine Simulator (the "App") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use it. The App is operated by Muhammad Ata ("we", "us", or "our"). If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at enginesimulatorios@gmail.com.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Summary (plain language)
We built Engine Simulator to collect as little personal information as possible. In short:
- We do not ask for your email, real name, phone number, or address. There is no account sign-up and no login.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use advertising or behavioral-analytics services.
- The information that leaves your device is what you choose to make public (a username and the engines you share to the leaderboard or community board), data needed to process your purchase, information you submit when you report another user's content, and automatic crash and error diagnostics sent to our crash-reporting provider, Sentry, so we can fix problems, never used to advertise to you or track you.
- All of that public data is stored in Apple iCloud (CloudKit). Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.
- The App's AI features (engine generation and content screening) run entirely on your device using Apple's on-device models. The text you type for those features is not sent to us or any server.
The sections below describe everything in full detail.
2. Information we collect
We collect only the categories of information described here. We do not collect any category of information not listed in this Policy.
2.1 Information you choose to provide
- Username / display name. You may set a username so your entries can appear on the global leaderboard and community board. This is a name you choose; we do not require it to be your real name, and we recommend you do not use your real name or any personally identifying handle. Your username is publicly visible to other users once you post.
- Engine content you share. When you publish an engine to the community board or submit a run to the leaderboard, the App uploads the engine's design data (its technical specification), the name and optional description you gave it, and computed performance figures (for example horsepower, torque, 0–60 time, displacement, and estimated build cost). This content is publicly visible.
- Reports you submit. If you report another user's content, the App sends us the reporter's anonymous identifier, the reported user's anonymous identifier and username, the name of the reported content, the content type, and the App version. Reports are visible only to us, not to other users.
2.2 Information created automatically by the App
- Anonymous player identifier. On first launch the App generates a random identifier (a UUID) to attribute your leaderboard and community posts and to recognize your own content. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any real-world identity. It is stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud key-value storage so your identity stays consistent across your own Apple devices.
- App settings and saved layouts. Your preferences (such as the engine-damage toggle, haptics toggle, UI frame-rate setting, onboarding status, and saved dashboard layouts) are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us.
- Blocked-user list. The list of users you have blocked is stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud key-value storage. It is not uploaded to our servers and is not visible to anyone else.
- App version. When you post to the leaderboard or submit a report, the App records the version of the App used, to help us diagnose data issues.
2.3 Purchase information
Engine Simulator offers a one-time "Pro" in-app purchase. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit. We do not receive or store your credit card number, billing address, or Apple ID. The App checks your purchase entitlement directly with Apple so we can confirm whether you own the Pro unlock and support purchase restoration. See Section 5 for more about these providers.
2.4 On-device AI processing
Engine Simulator uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models for two features:
- generating an engine from a text description you type ("describe an engine"); and
- screening usernames, engine names, and descriptions for inappropriate content.
This processing happens entirely on your device. The text you provide for these features is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and we do not receive or store it.
2.5 Crash and error diagnostics
To detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs, the App uses Sentry, a crash- and error-reporting service operated by Functional Software, Inc. (dba Sentry). When the App crashes or encounters an error, Sentry collects a diagnostic report containing technical information such as the type of crash or error, a stack trace, your device model, operating-system version, and the App version, and, on devices where supported, a screenshot and view layout of the App's own screen at the moment of the error. We have configured Sentry not to collect your IP address, and it does not receive your name, email, or location. This data is processed on Sentry's servers (which may be located in the United States) and is used only to keep the App stable and working, never for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across other apps or websites. Sentry's handling of this data is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy. See also Section 5.
If you choose to send a bug report from the App's Settings, the message you type is sent to Sentry together with the same basic diagnostic information described above (device model, operating-system and App version), so we can investigate. Bug reports are sent anonymously; we do not attach your name, email, username, or player identifier. Please don't include personal or sensitive information in the message.
2.6 Information we do NOT collect
For clarity, the App does not collect, request, or access any of the following:
- Email address, real name, phone number, or postal address.
- Precise or approximate location; the App does not use location services, and our crash-reporting provider is configured not to collect your IP address.
- Camera, microphone, photos, contacts, calendars, or health/fitness data.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA), and we do not use App Tracking Transparency because we do not track you.
- Advertising or behavioral-tracking analytics of any kind, and no advertising SDKs. (We use one crash-diagnostics service, Sentry, solely to detect and fix crashes and errors, see Section 2.5, never for advertising or tracking.)
3. How we use information
We use the limited information described above only to:
- Operate the global leaderboard and community board, including showing your username and shared engines to other users.
- Attribute your posts to you and let you recognize, manage, and remove your own content.
- Process and restore your in-app purchase.
- Moderate content and keep the community safe, screening text for prohibited content, and reviewing and acting on user reports (see Section 7).
- Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and errors using crash-diagnostic reports (see Section 2.5).
- Maintain, debug, and improve the App's functionality.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Community Guidelines.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. We do not perform automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. Public nature of leaderboard and community content
The leaderboard and community board are public spaces. Any username, engine name, engine description, engine design, and performance figure you choose to post can be seen, and the shared engine can be downloaded and re-used, by any other user of the App. Do not include personal, sensitive, or identifying information in a username, engine name, or description. Because shared engines can be downloaded by others, content you publish may persist on other users' devices even after you remove it from the public boards.
5. How we share information; third-party services
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We rely on the following providers strictly to operate the App:
- Apple iCloud / CloudKit. Your public leaderboard and community content, and the content reports you submit, are stored in Apple's CloudKit service. Your anonymous player identifier and blocked-user list sync through Apple's iCloud key-value storage. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit. Processes your in-app purchase and manages your purchase entitlement and receipt validation. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of this data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Sentry (crash & error diagnostics). Operated by Functional Software, Inc. (dba Sentry). When the App crashes or hits an error it receives a diagnostic report, crash and stack-trace data, device model, operating-system and App version, and (where supported) a screenshot of the App's own screen, used only to keep the App stable. It is configured not to collect your IP address. Sentry's handling of this data is governed by Sentry's Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
6. Data storage, location, and retention
- On-device data (settings, saved layouts, your username, your anonymous identifier, your blocked-user list) remains on your device and in your private iCloud account. You can remove it at any time by deleting the App and, if you wish, by removing its iCloud data in your device's iCloud settings.
- Public content you post (leaderboard entries, community engines) and reports you submit are retained in CloudKit until you delete them, until we remove them through moderation, or until they are otherwise removed in the ordinary operation of the service.
- We retain content reports for as long as needed to investigate and act on abuse and to keep records of enforcement.
Because data is stored using Apple iCloud and purchases are processed by Apple, it may be stored and processed on servers located in the United States and other countries. By using the App you understand that your public content may be processed in those locations.
7. Content moderation, reporting, and blocking
To keep the community safe, the App:
- Screens user-typed public text (usernames, engine names, and descriptions) before it can be posted, using an on-device blocklist and, on supported devices, Apple's on-device model. Content judged inappropriate is rejected.
- Lets any user report objectionable content. Reports are sent to us for review and the reported author's content is immediately hidden on the reporting user's device.
- Lets any user block another user, which hides all of that user's content everywhere it would otherwise appear.
We review reports and remove content and/or eject users who violate our Community Guidelines. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior.
8. Your rights and choices
Regardless of where you live, you can:
- Choose what to make public. Posting to the leaderboard or community board is optional. You can use the App's single-player simulation features without ever setting a username or posting anything.
- Change your username at any time in the App's settings.
- Delete content you posted. You can unpublish engines you shared to the community board. You can delete your data and posted content (see below).
- Block other users so you no longer see their content.
Deleting your data
To delete the public content associated with your anonymous identifier (leaderboard entries and community engines), use the in-app data-deletion control in the App's settings, or contact us at enginesimulatorios@gmail.com with a request and we will delete it. Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored data. Because the App has no login and your identifier is anonymous, we identify your data by that identifier, which is available within the App.
9. Your U.S. state privacy rights (including California)
If you are a resident of California or another U.S. state with a comprehensive privacy law, you have the right to:
- Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
- Delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising or behavioral profiling. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. To exercise a right, contact us at enginesimulatorios@gmail.com.
10. Your rights in the EEA, UK, and similar regions (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a region with comparable data-protection law, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we process the limited data described here, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (operating the features you use and processing purchases), our legitimate interests (operating, securing, and moderating the community), and legal obligation. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact us at enginesimulatorios@gmail.com.
11. Security
We rely on Apple's iCloud/CloudKit and App Store infrastructure, which use industry-standard security measures, and we limit collection to the minimum described here. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid posting sensitive or identifying information in public content.
12. Third-party links
The App and this Policy may reference third-party websites or services (such as Apple's policies). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties; review their policies directly.
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of the App after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
